  1. hey just wondering if there is such a thing as a disc that cleans your dvd writer in your computer. I've seen CD Laser cleaners, but I'm not sure if that's the right stuff to put into your dvd burner. thanks.

When using these products make sure to follow all directions including limits upon times to use. You shouldn't buy one and expect it to continue doing the same cleaning job forever. After a while the reverse effects of these disc based cleaners can result in scratching of the laser lens surface doing irrepairable damage to it.

    Use them wisely.

  4. Commercial stuff off the shelf has very low effectiveness.

It is easier to clean Laptop's CD/DVD/Burner, because when the drive is opened, you can see the head assembly. Use a non-cotton based swap and len cleaner, with your gentle hand motion should do it. I am itch to open the cover of an old CD-ROM drive, to find out can I accessed to the head assembly ?

yes you can open one up and clean em that way -- but i hesitate to recommend that method for the average user because
    1. they have to open the machine
    2. not doing the cleaning process properly will damage the laser worse ..
