Seems like a good price until you look two lines down from the price. What is this guy going to use for the shipping material?

yeah, there's loads of stuff I see like that from people!, blatant overpricing of delivery. Just look at his other items also

    http://cgi.ebay.com/New-Netgear-High-Speed-Wireless-Router-2-4G-MR814-v2_W0QQitemZ5881...QQcmdZViewItem

If he gave discounted postage if you bought 2 items or more then that wouldn't be so bad. Why do I very much doubt he wouldn't drop the $20 delivery charge for that tiny usb if you bought the router above that has a $25.99 delivery

what if you lived locally, would he let you pick them up?

I prefer to keep delivery low and the price high but that guy you listed is obviously making his money from inflated delivery. Buyers will still have a top price they will pay inc delivery but the difference is that ebay gets less commision from a lower selling item and therefore the seller gets more of the total money

I once sent a message to a guy charging £30 ($50 or something) just to send a pair of top of the range trainers and asked why he was taking the piss regarding delivery

I could send a dead donkey for £30 but it is amazing what some people ask

i have no problem with inflated deliveries on 1penny auctions cos the total price is mor or less the same, they do it cos u dont have to pay ebay fees on postage amounts so if u bought a dvd for a penny but the postage was 7.99 then he would pay nothing on final selling fees wheras if he did postage 99p and selling price 6.99 then hed pay about 60p final selling price, it adds up

on the other hand fixed auctions just piss me off cos there conning u

    And another thing.

Last night I was bidding on an item. The high bid kept going back and forth between me and this other guy for a while. In the end, he beat me with a last second bid.

Today, I get an email giving me a second chance for the item because the high bidder couldn't pay. The offer is for my last highest bid. Wouldn't all the high bidder's bids have become null and void?

I'm starting to think this is all a scam. I don't care though. I got the same item for less than my original bid later on in the evening anyway. Just really annoys me.

that's why I never bid until the end if I can. It's pointless letting others know you are prepared to bid as sometimes you can get it for far less by letting them think nobody else is interested

if you enter a bid then someone else beats it and you just bid again and then they beat it again is pointless. If you can just steam in with 10 seconds to go and just put the max you are prepared to pay (maybe a little extra just to make sure if you really want it ). If your highest is higher than theirs then you win. Simple and very effective as they don't have time to outbid you again plus you have saved all the crap of a bidding war which bumps up the price needlessly

this way you only have to pay a little more than their original highest bid rather than their increased bid 8)

I laugh at people who having mini bidding wars days way before the item ends and then drive the price up between them thinking they are going to win it only to get gazumped in the last few seconds

This all happened in the last five minutes of the auction.

So anyway, I'm looking at the high bidder's feedback and its all from this same seller. I'm thinking of reporting this guy but is this enough evidence?

not really as I've seen people that regularly buy things from sellers, mostly computer stuff

I've also received a 2nd chance offer but that's just because the seller actually has more than 1 of the items but hasn't listed it that way. The seller just has a price he is prepared to sell the item for and if bidders are over that then regardless of winning the seller will just give you a 2nd chance offer

what was it you were buying?

if it was a rare item or something completely different to what the seller normally sells then I'd still be a little suspicious

I really hate when sellers over charge shipping to Canada...

Easiest way to get stuff into Canada is standard US Post - generally less than $100 and it gets to your door without aditional fees and brokerage fees are only $5 when over.

Usually the US Post to Canada costs less than the courier to US adresses. Pisses me off when someone want's $25 for shipping when the actual post is only $3.25...

I hate it when sellers inflate the postage cost. As most of you mentioned, its to reduce ebay costs. Most of these sellers are traders with established businesses and if they can con ebay, whats to stop them from conning you.

Look at it this way, if you receive one of these products (with inflated postage cost) and it turns out being faulty, would you get a full refund. I think not.

Sellers are not required to refund postage costs, just the cost of the item, or replaced it without charging additional postage. Which means you just got conned.

I asked a seller this once about local collection, he/she refused and said it would not be possible as then I would be paying below the cost price for the product without postage.

One option you do have is to give negative feedback stating you were overcharged for shipping...

I don't mind paying a bit more for shipping as it is really shipping and handling - just don't like getting ripped off.

$20-$30 shipping & handling charge for $3 shipping is really ridiculous.

Which brings me to another thing. What's up with sellers not leaving feedback until the buyer does so. I paid, that's all I need to do. Why don't they leave feedback then? If you got a problem with the feedback I leave you, respond to it there. Don't leave me negative feedback for something you did. I bid and paid what I bid for right after the audtion.

A while back I won an auction and contacted the seller. I did not have a paypal account at the time so I asked for payment details. The guy never got back to me. Two months later I left negative feedback clearly stating he never got back to me. So he immediately leaves me feedback stating I leave negative feedback for no reason.

Really good point and I totally agree! The seller shouldn't be able to see your feedback until his is made - if you promptly pay, answer whatever questions the seller may have he should have no choice but to give you a positive feetback. My feedback can't be given until receive and inspect the item - if I'm charged 5 times the actual shipping I will challenge it, either refund some shipping or get negative feedback (I have received a refund on two purchases...)

I have the same problem. It sellers waiting for your feedback so that if you give a positive, they give a positive. And if you leave a negative feedback for whatever reason, they will leave you a negative feedback, even though their feedback is unfair.

Its just the attitude sellers have; "if he/she left me a negative, im going to give him/her one too"

This is why I'm thinking the buyer's feedback should be hidden until the seller gives his feedback.

  18. Feedback should be hidden until both inputs are done. That's one of the MANY reasons why Ebay Sucks.

I was going to say that about feedback but then I thought about the consequences as you may not see feedback for weeks after or not at all if one party doesn't post it

therefore someone could turn nasty and not leave feedback for anyone, therefore nobody could see their bad feedback in return

the current system could probably be better but it's still useful
