    Actually found some Sony's that's made in Japan! Everything else is made in Taiwan or China though.

    I find it odd that this late in the game (8x and 16x era) Sony decides to start manufacturing media in Japan, but I'm not complaining.

    I with Gen-An! I'm not gonna complain either! Shipping to Hawaii is expensive from rima.com so getting TY media from COMPUSA or BEST BUY is fine with me.

    This has nothing to do with CompUSA but I did discover something interesting about Sony media (to me at least). I've always purchased DVD+R MIJ 8x (Yuden...T02) and had great success with it. It was the only Sony media I could find locally that was Taiyo Yuden since everything else I found had a Sony MID. Decided on a whim last night to try a new 50 pack of the DVD-R 16x Accucore discs expecting to get (SONY16D1). I was surprised to find out they id'd as TYG03. Anybody else notice this

    Whoa. That's the first instance I've read of branded TYG03 being found in the USA!

    I swear - I even checked randomly throughout the spindle and they all id'd as TYG03. I first thought it was a mistake but after checking the first, last and several in between I'm convinced it is legitimate. I saw a post over at CDFreaks that made the same observation a few weeks back but I wrote it off as a European poster since he had no member location to indicate US. Will be interesting to see if others start reporting this. Definitely a welcomed surprise for me though.

    Followup to previous posts on Sony branded TYG03 media. Ran some tests tonight burning this media at 16x on an LG 4167B using DL13 firmware. Posting quality scan below of the TYG03 and also a 16x burn on Verbatim MCC 03RG20 for a reference comparison.
