I have the Pioneer DVR-531H-s which really is almost identical to the 533 model.

I have never had a problem with my clock time ... in fact I only ever had to set it once.

However I do have my cable TV connected via the RF Tuner input and I used the PBS channel automatic clock time setting feature.

I've had mine set up since I got it which was roughly late August or early September 2005

    P.S.
I did reset the clock back in mid to late December 2005 because I got a new TV and had to unhook and rewire everything so I went through the "set up" again on the unit but I don't count this as this is something I did as opposed to the clock screwing up on it's own.

  3. Are you saying your clock is off by six hours in say three months? That does not sound good. I have a Pioneer DVR-531H. It is not hooked up to any cable or antenna. I manually set the time but the clock is never off by more than about two minutes in three months.

The clock is quartz lock with battery backup good for five years. For a six hour error, the clock is defective, the battery is dead, the battery charging circuit is bad, or you inadvertently changed its time while doing something else.

  4. On the second day I got my 533 the EPG started to download information. I let it go to see what it could do. I came back to the unit later in the day and it wasn't finished downloading the info. I would have let it go but something happend that really bothered me. The time was 5 hours ahead. I thought, "what if I was taping something that day? I woudn't have gotten it because the EPG moved my time 5 hours ahead." So I turned off EPG on my second day of getting the Pioneer. Point is, if the time is being moved ahead 6 hours then maybe it's the EPG doing it? If the clock just turns off on your unit then I don't know what that is.
