  1. I found out that my DVD player, a Phillips DVD 751 does NOT support dvdrs. WHich in my mind is PRETTY dumb. Its all about software right? There is not hardware modification to be done so why can't anyone find other hacks or software upgrades to play these things on players that do not play them. Like the Playstation mod chips. Not only alow region playing but alow the playing of the CD-Rs. Now that is hardware. But if flashing the dvd is easier I can not understand why NO one is whipping these codes or hacks out on EVERY DVD player out there...

I was telling my buddy last night that I am so pissed that my DVD player does not play dvdrs. He laughed and said hack it. I said HOW he states its all software. Is he correct?

This is pathetic that people buy dvd players that always get out dated or are right from the start. And phillips is one producer of this situation. They have like 30 different drives out... OMG....

Does anyone see these types of hacks in the future or mod chips???

Some thing has got to be done... People are already talking bout mod chips for Xbox and and the other hot games. All dvd players. Why can people mod games systems in which the new ones are freaking pentium 3's. Damn near blows my desktop out of the water and they can't hack a cd rom drive?

Makes no sense if you ask me.

Sorry to rant and rave. But I hate to have to sell this off to a fool and shell out for another. I like this one I have...

  2. Well, from what I understand it is only sometimes a software issue, in other cases it is because the laser cant physically read the disc,if thats the case, than you are stuck.
Its sort of like how some cd players can read burned audio cds while other either have errors while reading or wont accept the disc at all.
Hopefully this is an issue that will be able to be worked out as DVDR type technologies become more mainstream.
