    Hi all
I have an avi (Xvid-Ac3/6 channels) file that I want to convert and burn onto a DVD. Framerate is 23.976. I have already done many conversions to PAL with no problem. VirtualDubMod for video and Besweet for audio. But I’ve read so much about the pulldown thing here, that I wanted to try this method.
I have used Tmpgenc to process video, selecting the pulldown check box. On the other hand, I have the audio file demuxed from VDM. Would not like to sacrifice this nice AC3 6 channels, by processing it with the video in Tmpgenc (don’t have the ac3 pluggin). So the question is what should I do to make the audio match the video concerning synch issues. Should I, as usually, convert framerate with Besweet, or what?
    TIA

You don't have to do anything at all. Pulldown works by creating new frames by duplicating certain fields. The runtime never changes because nothing is being sped up, the framerate increase comes by way of new frames. Encode to 23.976fps and include the 3:2 pulldown. Multiplex this with your untouched AC3 track. It will sync perfectly.

    Thank you very much, adam.
Now, just out of curiosity, should not it be better to just framerate conversion to 25.000. I say this because 23.976 is rather closer to 25 than to 30....

Pulldown isn't a framerate conversion, but going to 25 fps is (see Adam's succinct description of pulldown - above). If you do this, you will have to alter your audio, and risk sync issues.

Look at DGPulldown guides for a method of using pulldown to fake a 23.976 to playback 25 fps without having to adjust the audio.

You are right guns1inger, it was on Adam post, but I did not figure it totally out until I read yours. Thanks. BTW I already tried the pull down method and it worked just fine.
Must take a look at DGPulldown guides

    Thanks you two guys!
