I have a Liteon VHS/DVD recorder attached to my TV. I've made my own dvd's of movies, tv shows, etc. What I'd like to do is edit them on my computer (to remove commercials) and burn the edited version on the computer dvd burner. I have a lot of different editing software, but I seem to be having trouble getting the dvd into them. I was able to get it in one of them, but I had no sound. Does anyone know of a program to do what I'm trying to do? Preferrably free or one that I already own. Thanks!

If in doubt, Google it.

Actually, I did a lot of googling and reading (an even downloading programs), but I didn't get very far. That's why I was hoping there was a really good program that could do what I wanted it to do. I'll continue to read, but if anyone has a good program please let me know. Thanks for the response.

I probably won't be able to work on this problem for a few days, but I'll get back to you when I do. In the mean time, I'll be reading all the info. Thanks for the help!

Unfortunately, you have been caught be another consumer con. Mpeg2 is not a good format for editing. It was designed to give good quality playback at small(ish) file sizes, for end product. It was not designed for consumer editing.
There are a number of good editing tools now available because the manufacturers decided to tell consumers this was a good way to go, but you still have to juggle through a process to get there.
I would start by reading the link in Jimmalnko's post (above), then go to the tools section and look up Video Editors (Mpg/DVD) (it is a section on it's own). Good tools to start looking at include VideoRedo and Womble Mpeg-VCR. Look at the guides that are linked to under each tool. Read a couple, and see if any of them look like something you can follow. If so, go for it.
If not, live with the ads.Read my blog here.
