  1. Hi,

I have the VIDEO_TS folder from a PAL dvd that I want to convert to NTSC. If I load the VOB files into my player, either ATI or NERO showtime I get both video and audio. If I convert the VOB to MPG with VOB2MPG 2.2 I get no audio on the MPG file.

I also tried using TMPGEnc Plus but the resulting MPG file still has no audio. The audio is obviously there in the VOB but every thing I use to try to convert it loses the stream.

    Any suggestions?

try divxtodvd if you want something easy.

or else demultiplex the dvd to video and audio streams using rejig. convert the demuxed audio to wav with belight. convert the video and wav.

  3. Tried divxtodvd but saw no option to converty to NTSC. DVD had sound but it turned out PAL.

    Am I missing something?

  4. Ok, I found the setting for NTSC. But now what I do not understand is the DVD was just over 2gigs but at the end of the conversion the program says it needs a dual layer disc to fit it on.

If the original audio was compressed to AC-3 or MP2 and you have now converted it to WAV (uncompressed) then the new audio will take more space on the disc. That's my guess.

  6. *sigh* well I dropped the quality down a notch and it fit on one disc but the dvd runs for about 3 minutes then starts getting choppy and drops back to the main menu.

Just about ready to give up on this.

DivxtoDVD keeps compliant audio, and converts everything else to AC3 2.0. If your audio wasn't compliant your wouldn't get LPCM.

Are you using DivxtoDVD (free program) or ConvertXtoDVD ? ConvertXtoDVD has an option to include the original files when buring. This might well put you over the limits for an SL disc.

  8. Ok. I demuxed the files with Rejig, then transcoded the audio with BeSweet and am now reencoding with TMPGEnc Plus.

I will reauthor and see how it goes.

  9. That worked out very well. There was quite a bit of banding and noise when there was quick movement but I was using a very fast encoding method. I am going to re-encode on high quality tonight and I should be all set.

    Thanks!

  10. I guess I am going to have to start over from scratch. Good thing I saved the Video_TS folder. All my original files got tossed and the DVD is now not reading. It was very scratched when I first began but now I cannot get any of my drives to read it.
