  1. Howdy

I'm having a problem testing CD (DVD) image files on my computer. What I tried to do is make a simple menu pointing to one mpeg-2 movie, in Roxio VideoPack 5. It went through all the motions of encoding it to .vob format and then spat out a .c2d file, which I am supposed to load into the CD-ROM emulator (in this case, the L. I do so, and PowerDVD loads up, but then freezes the entire machine. I can't ctrl+alt+delete even -- I have to physically turn off the power and turn it back on again.

I can play plain .mpg files in PowerDVD, but whenever I try to view a .vob or .c2d file (through the emulator), it freaks out and freezes.

Any ideas? Assistance would be most appreciated.

  2. There´s an update (SP-1) for VideoPack 5 at roxio. This should correct the error . I had the same problem but now it works fine at all. They´ve also fixed the WinXP Bug (systemcrash when burning the CD)(it´s an extra patch)

  3. I use VideoPack 5 on a Win XP system- or at least I'm trying to but have had lots of problems too. If I try to play them through the SoftScsi emulator or from disc with PowerDVD, they audio is fine but the video is jerky. These same files play fine through the emulator or from disc on WinDVD 3.

My real problem with VideoPack is that it crashes my system during a shut down-- much like a blue screen at the very end of powering off with an error message relating to APCI and then the machine reboots itself. The SP-1 file fixed the crash at recorder access problem but this one persists.

Also, since I have 2 recorders I'd like to pick which one I want to use but VideoPack 5 only recognizes ones it has installed drivers for so I cannot select the DVD writer and need to make disc images. I can then trick things by using a Stomp recording tool and the emulator whereby I tell the recording tool to make an exact copy of a disc and have it point to the emulator which has the image file loaded- it works reasonably well.

Roxio has told me a driver for the HP DVD100i is very near.
