Well I've been struggling with this stupid movie for a week now, and I can't seem to get help in the right direction. Here's the problem. I've tried to do a full back up copy ,and reauthor it using shrink, and after it has compressed it and burned it theres no sound at all from the main movie. The only sound I get is from the menu and all the adds for other movies at the beginning. Even with in shrink when I preview the dvd it has no sound when all of the other dvd's has sound with in preview of shrink. Also, what is funny is this. If I go to my hard drive where I ripped the dvd and pick any .vob file for this movie no sound at all, but if I tell power dvd this time to open the video_ts.ifo file to play the whole movie it plays everything with sound. I really don't know what to do and i'm hoping an expert here will solve this stupid problem. I've never had an issue like this out of any other dvd's, it's just this cast away that is giving me problems.

Ps. I've even tried to leave all the audios checked but no sound, but what I'm wanting to use is the ac3 5.1, which doesn't work either lol. Thanks all

That is a pretty long movie and I would personally do a movie only backup. But anyway, all that I can suggest is to ensure the audio files are selected in DVDShrink before you start the backup.

Since PowerDVD can play the files with audio, the files are being ripped from the original, but it sounds like they are not being added by DVDShrink during the backup.

Yes, all the audio files have been selected.

When powerdvd is told to open each individual .vob file there isn't audio. Only when I tell powerdvd to open the video_ts.ifo file to play the whole movie is when audio works..

I'm not sure what the deal is. I've never had any problems, I even have titanic on here ripped that is just as long as cast away and it burned fine.

When you play back the VOB file with PowerDvd, which audio track is selected?

When you play back the Video_TS file, which audio track is selected?

How do I find that out? I know that the audio settings with in powerdvd was auto set to dts, but I've changed it to ac3 and stereo already to see if that would make a difference. I'm not quiet sure what and how to do what you asked..

Right click on the screen of PowerDvd when playing the VOB and check audio languages. I suspect it defaults to DTS.
