  1. Hello all, my HP 630i dvd writer died so I bought a Sony dw-q30a. The problem I'm having is that unlike my hp burner the movies I backup up with this new burner will not play on my Xbox. I have also learned that this is actually a Lite-On SHW-1635s burner so I loaded the newest Lite-ON firmware (YS0W). I am using same media and same software as with old burner but no matter what I try it's a no-go. Forgot to mention that I have two DVD Players and they do play in them.
    Thanks

  2. Are you using DVD+R media?
If so make sure you enable DVD-ROM booktype:

  3. MovieGeek, Thank you very very much. I have been trying this for a month now with no luck and this worked perfect. One more quick question do I need to do this to every dvd+r before burning or is there a way to set the burner to do this automatically through firmware or something?
Aswell (I guess this is two questions) if I used dvd-r why would I not have to do this?
    Again, thanks a lot

  4. Unfortunatly the Lite-On tool must be used before burning each DVD+R,it just takes a second though. The HP's auto set DVD+R to DVD-ROM.
    Difference in formats:
DVD-R uses a quasi DVD-ROM booktype and has high compatiblity with DVD players.Cons:you cannot burn multi-session data.
DVD+R can be set to DVD-ROM booktype for higher compatibilty.Consome older DVD players don't support DVD+R and some DVD+R writers don't support the DVD-ROM booktype.
Some people say "use DVD-R for video and DVD+R for data",I use DVD+R for both.
