  1. Ave,

I have an x264 720p video on my hard drive. Is it possible to convert or process this video to a format that I can burn on a Single or Dual Layer DVD and play in my XBOX 360 or my HD-DVD Add On?

I've been reading a lot, and there's so much that it's not making any clear sense to me. Something i keep hitting is GOTSent - but I'm not sure if that's the right thing.

I don't want to downconvert the video to 480p or something - I want to retain the 720p Resolution & 5.1 Audio.

    Is this possible?

    Thanks!

If it's MKV use GOTSENT. If not then tell us what container(avi,mp4,ts,etc) it is.

The video file I have is MKV, so I'll start with that.
How do you use GOTSent? What do I have to do? Also - will I be able to burn this to DVD Disc and play it in the HD-DVD Add On and still get the 720p/5.1 ?

    Thanks!

The 360 now has divx support with the latest update. I actually don't use divx very often so I haven't had a reason to test the new support.

You might try converting it to a basic divx format and try it that way on your 360.

Note - there is nothing special about the hddvd addon as far as file formats. It's strictly for hddvds and regular dvds. It doesn't add codec support as far as I know. Also you don't have to have the addon to upconvert dvds. It works just fine in the main drive through my hdtv (vga cable for 1360x768). Just fyi there.

I was reading up on GOTSent - why am I hitting notes that tell me that Audio is downconverted to 2 CH - and that GOTSent does not retain 5.1? Am I missing something?

I already posted this in another thread in this board. But here is it again:

Here you can find a tutorial how to stream .mkv to your 360 using TVersity: http://www.my360.ch/index.php?area=1&p=articles&type=special&id=96

It's in german but I'll try to give you the important steps translated:

    1. Uninstall every codec you have on your System (XviD, DivX, K-Lite Codec Package...)
    2. Download and Install TVersity 0.9.11.4 (DO NOT Install the TVersity Codec Pack - uncheck the box at the end of the installation)
    3. Download and Install FFDShow Rev.1751 (During the installation, set 2.0 Stereo Speaker - otherwise it won't work)
    4. Download and Install Haali Media Splitter
    5. Download and Install AC3 Filter 1.46
    6. Restart your computer.
    7. Startup TVersity and go to the Settings Tab
    8. Choose "Xbox 360" as Media Playback Device
    9. Move to the Transcoder Settings and change them (check my link, there you can find a table with the correct settings)

That's all... Please let me know if that works.

  7. Thanks, I actually found an incredible HD-DVD/Blu Ray (MKV) Source -> WVC1/5.1 (WMV-HD) Conversion Guide. Worked brilliant for me!!

Thanks so much for this program, this may be what I've been looking for all this time.
