  1. Getting some audio sync problems with AutoGK after a clean install, never encountered this problem, so im curious if its the software ive installed thats causing it.

On a clean install of Windows 2000, I have the following installed.

    Service Pack 4
    DirectX 9c
    Dot Net 2.0 (latest version)
    nForce2 drivers (latest version)
    AutoGK (latest version)
    Main Concept MPEG2 encoder

Its a MyHD MDP-100 card, on a system with an ATI All in Wonder 8500 present, but currently only the video drivers are installed.

What else should I have installed? K-Lite Mega Pack? Defilier Pack? When encoding MPEG2 files to XViD, what do you have installed?

The general consensus on this site is to AVOID CODEC PACKS LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Many people have had problems with them. Just install only the codes you need to use.

Divx 6, Xvid, and just the oddball video you find along the way - oh yeah the latest quicktime will be useful.

Check the tools section on the left and choose codecs to get the list of the popular and even unusual ones that are out there.

EDIT - I use virtualdubmpeg2 and divx 6 to make divx files from mpegs. Simple and straightforward with a little practice.
Donatello - The Shredder? Michelangelo - Maybe all that hardware is for making coleslaw?

  3. Ok, so I should have AutoGK installed and nothing else, right?

well if you watch/work with a lot of vidz , i say get K-Lite Mega Pack (only if the vidz deal with, x264, AAC, ogg, Mkv, OGM, etc), or if you just watch vidz with K-Lite Codec Pack standard which uses filters and decoders (only)

AVOID CODEC PACKS LIKE THE PLAGUE.
yes thats true only if you don't know what your doing
