Cam as stated and have a Snazzi DV Gold Video Capture PCI Card. Problem is i can copy VHS tapes with the card with no problem when i hook my Camcorder upto it nothing happens it just doesn't register like the VHS player. I run A P4 3GIG with windows XP SP2 and use the program that came with the card (Movie Mill 260). Any suggestions as to why i can't copy like my VHS tapes would be gratefull.

Snazzi and Sony manuals would be good points to start.

It should connect the same way as a VHS player.

The better (much higher quality) way to transfer video and audio from a miniDV camcorder is over the IEEE-1394 (aka "firewire" or "I-Link") interface. This is a digital to digital transfer (copy) and never goes to analog.

Most editing programs will control the camcorder or you can use simple programs like WinDV or DVIO to move the video to the hard drive.

Yes I figured it should connect same way as VHS but the program won't pick the cam up. Anyway does this mean I need to buy a firewire card or something ( Sorry not know anything about firewire stuff ) and thankx a heap for helping

The answer is yes, get a IEEE-1394 OHCI compatible card and cable.
