  1. Hey, I've been reading up on how to convert HD Transport Streams to XviD and such, but i've hit a snag. The Sound is Skipping. The video I acquired came in 100MB parts, labled [FILENAME].0000.ts, ect. I used HDTV to MPEG2 1.11.83 to create one MPEG2 .MPG file. I opened that up in GDIndex and saved. The output .ac3 file had a delay, So i opened it up in DelayCut and fixed it. I opened the .d2v file GDIndex saved in VFAPICodec and saved the .avi so it could be opened in VirtualDubMod. I configured the settings for the XviD codec, added a resize filter to resize it to half the original resolution (1920x1080 to 960x544 -- is that resolution ok/valid?), Imported the fixed .ac3 stream and chopped a 5 minute section to test. I opened up the converted video, which looks great, but the sound is skipping a lot and not synched up with the video. Ok, the reason I posted every step I did is to make sure I'm doing everything correct. If i'm missing a step or doing something wrong please tell me.

Is the sound problem because I cut a piece of video and the audio couldn't be synched to the video? I dont want to take the time to convert the whole video if that's not the problem. Again, I'm very new at this so if there is an easier/better way to do this, please let me know.

    I appreciate it,
    Mike

Why do you want it on xvid-HD?

The MPeg2_TS stream has been professionally produced and can't get better.

Are you just going for increased compression? The cost is extremely long processing times + the problems you mentioned.

    Why do it?

he dont have drive space/ wants to fit it to 1 dvdr

M7D7G7 i read that autogk can do a good job of converting the video. tho sometimes it messes up the audio sync. so convert them separately then mux.

  4. Join the transport streams in DGIndex. Try and wean yourself from the obsolete VFAPI method and learn AviSynth for best quality.

And as suggested, if you're not real sure what you're doing yet, AutoGK might be the way to go for the time being.
