Just got my first Digital TV card a TwihanDTV model 3020C and used the auto scan feature to tune in the free-to-air channels and its picked up all of the VHF channels and some obscure UHF channels, but unfortunately its missing UHF channel 34 (SBS).
I suspect signal strength. Have others experienced this challenge and was it signal strength or something else?
If it is signal strength, can I use a quick fix, such as a video amplifier.

Hi,
I have never used a DVB-T card, but I know that Twinhan cards ( DVB-S ) are very demanding of signal strength, you could try pointing your antenna to a different direction and
try to scan that particular channel.
Amplifiers normally introduce noise to the signal.

Have you tried a manual scan of 571500kHz?
I found when I originally scanned, it only picked up a few channels, so i manualy scanned each frequency and they were all found sucsessfully. Only sbs had an issue with signal strength. I had an old indoor antenna which had practically fallen apart (on part of it was replaced with a coat hanger) and I can use that to get 99% signal strength, where as my roof antenna was hovering around 60 - 70%. If you find SBS is dropping out (and like me, you only watch sbs for south park and mythbusters), then you could use an indoor antenna every time you watch sbs. -
Thanks for the replys guys, I have looked into it quite closely and have considered the signal issue in relation to all of the equipment in the house and have concluded that the best solution is to simply increase the strength by 1. Increasing the height of the aerial and if that still doesn't provide sufficient strength, then 2. Fit an second idential aerial below the first aerial and join them together.
Both solution require effort so will suffer from a lack of priority. The easiest solution is to get an installer in to do the work, BUT I want to know what the DB output is before the work is carried out and what the DB output is after the work is carried out. This time I want to talk the talk and review the results, so I can advoid getting another timer waster up on my roof top.Have a nice Day
