I make my DVD's PAL (720x576) from AVI sources using free tools :

VirtualDub if I need to extract audio
    QuEnc to encoding
    Besweet for audio transcoding
sourceforge DVD Author to make DVD and ISO and Multiplex

But I notice a small hiccups on some DVDs when I play on my TV, home-dvd player

I don't know if it is due to burnning DVD speed or something else

    what can I do ?

    my region is PAL..therefore :

If I use a AVI source with 23.976 FPS I convert video to 25 FPS using AVISYNTH, and audio to 25 FPS using Besweet.

But I don't know if it is due to bitrate, i.e., the resulting DVD is allways less than 4.7 GB

does the burned dvd play okey on your computer using a software dvd player?
are you converting to ac3 audio? i read that some had hiccup playing problems when using besweet / belight / ffmpeggui.
have you tried different dvd media?

I'm not sure but I think that it is due to bitrate I use to encode...because...

one that gave me hiccups has this video information :

    frame size : 576x240, 23.976 FPS

it has a small resolution(frame size)..maybe it wont accept high bitrates

I don't know if this is the problem

576x240 is not a supported spec for dvd

    spec's are :

    Ntsc

    720x480
    704x480
    352x480
    352x240

    Pal

    720x576
    704x576
    352x576
    352x288

You can get away with such thing's only in avi's and dvd player's supporting their playback ... though the rule for avi is , size must be dividable by 4 to produce a whole number .
