  1. Hello all,

I purchased a DVD that shows the interior of a diesel locomotive. The narration is barely audible above the sound of the engine itself.

(((( I should get my $40 back....... the video isn't that great either but it's all I'll ever have of this section of railroad.))))

I'd like to take the audio track off the DVD and run it through some software filters to reduce the low freqs and amplify the voice of the dodo who took the video.

But I'm not sure how to get the audio alone off the DVD so I can work on it.

I have TMPenc, DVD Decrypter, DVD Shrink, Nero 6, IFO Edit and VOBrator. But I'll be darned if I can see how to do this.

    Thanks to all in advance.

It is not an easy thing to do in all.
To get audio out of DVD you can use SmartRipper.

  4. I tested the trial version od DVD Audio Extractor that I found in the tools section here

    http://www.castudio.org/dvdaudioextractor/

And it worked. In this case as I was looking at taking a DVD I had created with many chapters (Music videos) I set it to create a new mp3 file for each chapter and then burned them with nero to a CD. It has the option to create sevral types of audio, mp3, ogg, wave, flac, direct stream demux and cd image & cue sheet. It can split at each chapter or do the whole DVD etc. It also seems to be able to handle mp2 audio from the DVD. a 1hr. 33 min DVD shows that as mp3 it will have a target file size of around 128 Megabytes. Not real bad.

I think I'm going to register it and use my DVD recorder to record my old Vinyl to DVD and then use this program to extract to a editable format and burn the records as a CD.

DVD Decryptor will operate in IFO mode and then enable stream rip, you will get your audio for processing with the product you mention. Hopefully you will already have LPCM files to work with in your audio editors. Depending on the outcome of the stream rip you may end up with audio as AC3 which will require further work to get back to wav files. BeSweet could assist with this one.

    Hi and thanks to all,

If I select ISO in DVD Decrypter, I don't see anything that says " stream rip " are you referring to the box that says " stream processing" ?

All I seem to get are IFO files and VOB'S.

    Thanks again!

ISO mode is for a complete copy of the disc in question. This will make a image on your hard drive. You need the option IFO, I am not at my normal computer to confirm this exactly..there are three options ISO, File and IFO modes. the IFO mode will normally open the disc at the movie PGC by looking for and selecting the biggest PGC in respect to time. Make sure you have the last version Lightening produced before being attacked by the gods so to speak.
