Yes, of course you can, and it should - in that order.
So long as the player in question is compatible with the media and it's been authored correctly. -
Thnaks garryheather. When you say "So long as the player in question is compatible with the media ". All the desktop play I have seen so far only says DVD +R , -R +RW -RW... I have not seen one that says DVD +R DL or DVD -R DL... Do you mean that as long as the support DVD +R -R +RW -RW, then they should have no problem reading DL ? I have some experience with burning DVDs. So I will have no problem making a properly authored DVD. I just want ot be sure that DL will work on the player before I try to make DVDs on DL media. As you know they cost a lot more than the regular DVD media.

DL+ is a whole new beast......
you can have a standalone player that plays both + & -, but still may not play DL+, you just have to try one and see
They do seem to be compatible for the most part but out of 5 diff. makes and models of dvd players i have they all play + & -, my dvd recorder only plays - unless it is a + booktyped to ROM, but one of my five players will not play DL.
