  1. Can I make DVD with DL (8.5G) DVD+ media ? Will the DVD play on regular desktop players ?

  2. Yes, of course you can, and it should - in that order.

So long as the player in question is compatible with the media and it's been authored correctly.

  3. Thnaks garryheather. When you say "So long as the player in question is compatible with the media ". All the desktop play I have seen so far only says DVD +R , -R +RW -RW... I have not seen one that says DVD +R DL or DVD -R DL... Do you mean that as long as the support DVD +R -R +RW -RW, then they should have no problem reading DL ? I have some experience with burning DVDs. So I will have no problem making a properly authored DVD. I just want ot be sure that DL will work on the player before I try to make DVDs on DL media. As you know they cost a lot more than the regular DVD media.

DL+ is a whole new beast......

you can have a standalone player that plays both + & -, but still may not play DL+, you just have to try one and see

They do seem to be compatible for the most part but out of 5 diff. makes and models of dvd players i have they all play + & -, my dvd recorder only plays - unless it is a + booktyped to ROM, but one of my five players will not play DL.
