I'm having this awful interference when capturing from two VHS tapes here.
I have a Hauppauge PVR 500, so I'm working with a 720x480 NTSC MPEG2 file.
Can anyone recommend a vdub filter or something similar to make it not look so bad?
I tried some but no luck.

No filter is going to fix that, does it look like that if just play it from VHS to TV... Have you tried using different cables, different VCR...?
Due to the coruuption that looks blocky it might even just simply be a codec issue do ohter captures look the same if you're using the same capture settings? Could also be .jpg compression after the fact... -
Playing on TV I don't see all that interference, but I didn't try to play the burned DVD to see if it makes any difference. Didn't try diff cables or VCR as I use it regularly and have no problems.
I was thinking the problem could be with a borrowed video card. My AGP card died and I got a PCI card with a friend. But if the problem is the card I would have this interference while watching TV too.
I think the VCR may be the problem. I'll try with another one. -
Just tried another VCR and the image is better. Dunno why my VCR is like that now :/
I've never had this problem before, my VCR would play anything without problems :/ -
Is it just one tape or are you seeing this on known good tapes as well when palyed through your VCR.

Just two tapes. One of them was recorded in 1994, the other I don't know, but it's not so old.
I just tested a known good tape on my VCR and it's ok, no interference like the one on the picture. -
Probably the crosstalk is recorded to the tape.
There is no simple way to remove or correct it if that is the case.
I've seen similar patterns from faulty cable TV systems.Recommends: Kiva.org - Loans that change lives.

Some TV shows, like Guns & Ammo Classic, come in like that where I live. Thankfully I don't have a need to keep recordings of shows like that. Even so, it would be neat if that sort of thing could be fixed with software filters.
