I've taken 3 store bought dvds and converted them to vob files using DVD Decrypter. I then loaded them into Sony Vegas 6 for conversion to avi for encoding to psp format.

The problem is that the audio would be out of sync, I took the same vob files and loaded them into Mpeg Video Wizard and they played fine, also I tried AVS Video Converter and there was no audio sync issue at all.

I like the video quality I'm getting from the V6 renders, my only issue is the sync problems. I must admit that it has been a long time since I've experience audio/video sync problems.

It seems as if V6 has issues with these files. I don't know what I am doing wrong. If anyone knows a better way please let me know.

Well, I just updated the software to version 6.0d which is the latest upgrade. Do you think the AC3 might be the problem?

I'm not in front of my computer to give any readings but I did try spliting the video at certain points and moving the audio track left and right until I got the audio lined up again. This can become very fustrating at times.

Sometimes the video plays fine with the audio while previewd in Vegas but is out of sync after it is rendered. What gives?

IF it helps, there are some PSP conversion prog. avail that are a lot faster I think.

Have you tried converting ac3 to wavs? I'm stuck in the past I guess, still using graphedit & Cyberlink DS filters, but to me the qual downmix is worth it, & only takes a minute or 3.

I haven't tried to convert the audio stream yet, I am in the process. I tried VirtualDub but I prefer the picture quality of Vegas over VirtualDub.

I tried separating the video streams using DVD Decrypter demux yet I was unable to get the video stream to load into Vegas. Vegas would not accept the m2v file format.

    What am I doing wrong?

I've given up on using Vegas for every conversion. I was not able to get it work on some files, so I found a substitute. I'm using AVS Video Creator on files that don't work correctly with Vegas. All the files seem to play fine in Video Creator.

  10. I had a similar problem with audio sync in an AVI file that used a VBR MP3 soundtrack. What I had to do was use VirtualDub to export the wav, then bring the wav into Vegas. Drag the original avi onto the timeline, delete the audio track, then drag the new wav track to the timeline and render.

If trying to edit in Vegas the sound would be out of sync **at times**, After rendering the tracks were in sync. Also make sure your project settings match the media you are editing, i.e. - 29.97fps may cause sync issues if your media is 59.94fps...
