When you play an avi (and corresponding .srt) with VobSub installed, if the subtitle has only one line, it plays at the bottom of the screen. If the subtitle has 2 lines, the first line will move higher and the second line will be in the same postion as the sole line of the one line subtitle.

Is it possible to "fix" the postion of the first line (whether it be a 1 line or 2 line subtitle)? That way the first line will ALWAYS be in the same postion and the second line (if present) will also ALWAYS be in the same postion.

Is there a setting in VobSub for this? Or is there a way to force this when encoding the avi to .m2v with TMPG or Canopus?

    Thanks

To adjust the line position AFAIK is normal behavior. A guess to overcome it might be to check out the scripting for Subtitle Workshop, or in Word or another word processing prog. that allows scripts &/or macros.

Maybe you could determine the max number of lines in your subtitle, then add *return* or new line as required so all individual captions have the same number of lines. That should give the results you're after.

thanks for your attempt mikiem ... but it's not what I'm looking for.

I know DVD-Lab Pro has the kind of setting I'm talking about in "Margins" - "Base Line Alignment".

What I want to know is if VobSub has the feature I'm talking about or whether any other program that does what VobSub does (ie. plays Subs in players) has this feature.
