As my 1-year-old LG 4160B burner isn't burning DVD-Rs well after three months now -- I cleaned up the lens and use several brands of media, no avail. CD-R/RW are burning well though -- I'm about to try updating its A302 firmware version to a higher one as a last chance before buying another drive. It could be coincidence, but it was when the 8X DVD-Rs replaced the old 4X in the stores that my problems began, so maybe updating the firmware solve it.

Question is, since in the LG site there are 2 update versions (A303 and A306), can I use directly the A306 version over the old A302?

    Thanks for any help!

Yup, no problem. You don't need to upgrade in steps, each version will completely write over any older versions.
