Can you hook up the sima ct-2 or ct-200 directly to the satelite receiver output then to a dvd recorder or does it only work between a vcr or a dvd player and a dvd recorder?

I assume that you could use the Sima to clean up any video source. I hope that someone corrects me if I'm wrong because I plan on setting up a similiar set-up via Dish Network > Sima > DVD Recorder

I have hunted everywhere ,trying to find out if I can hook up the input directly to the receiver or the tv but everything I find says to go between vcr or recorder then to another recorder to copy. There must be someone out there that has a sima and has tried this setup

Also I've heard that some older IRDs (satellite receivers from both Dish/Direct) don't produce the macrovision signal on ppv's/premiums. You might want to comfirm that you are indeed getting the copy protected error first before buying the Sima.

I agree with Mantas. Make sure you have a problem first.

I've been capturing from Dish to an ATI AIW (via s-video) for at least a couple years now. I've got the basic 503(?) and 511(?) DVR receivers.

However, I don't subscribe to a premium channels so I can't confirm whether or not things like HBO would have additional protection.
    Have a good one,

    Hi Guys,

Facing same issues as posted here, I recently bought a modified DVD recorder, the Liteon 5005x, with a built-in copy protection remover. I'm very happy with the purchase. Records premium channels or any DVD/VHS. The same company provides also a copy protection remover device (The Videographer) that does the same but installed externally. Amazing products...
