  1. why cant i change writing speed for tmpgenc dvd author?
    and why is it better to write at lower speed instead of max when burning dvds?

    i'm not sure why TDA wont let you change the burn speed.. but as far as burning at a low speed, it is usually suggested as a cure because of a number of things.. poor media, poor burners, poor dvd players..

  3. I have not seen this with TDA so maybe you are using an RW disc or some other disc where there is only one speed in the burner firmware. As to your other question, some burners will allow burning at speeds that are marginal in quality. It is almost always better to burn the media at the rated speed unless you are scanning the media and know what your setup is doing.
    Still a few bugs in the system...

    For older and lousier quality media, burning at full speed will cause more coasters. Basically, the media itself was not really rated for its speed, but it's purposely labelled better than it actually is to sell for more $$$. You'd pay more for 8X than 4X media, right? And how would you know it's REALLY 8X media unless you run a couple tests?
