  1. I tried to use my DVD-RW disc as a 4000MB space. I used to do this with CD-RW with images, programs, documents, videos, etc... I used to use in-cd or something like that....

Is this possible 2 do with DVD-RW? The two times I tried I ended up needing to format them with DVD Decrypted and use em for something else...

Was I doing something wrong? What software do I need to install?

InCD should be able to format a DVD-/+RW if it's one of the later versions. I do this all the time. And you'll be able to use the whole 4.7GB of space (unlike a CD-RW which leaves you with only 572MB out of 700MB for packet writing).

I'm getting confused here. Are you trying to make a DVD-RW where you can randomly write/overwrite/delete files just like a 4.7GB hard drive? If so, InCD is about the only thing that's going to work. Maybe you need to install the other Nero software to get it to work. I'm not sure if InCD works alone without having Nero Burning ROM or Nero Express installed as well.

i think it will work alone, but those damned packet-writers were always hit & miss for me. i usually had to just launch a 'data-dvd' app.

I'd bet a dollar to a dougnut that lousy packet writing is the culprit! I went through same problems with bith CDRW and DVDRW, and you may go to thread at https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=291998 for more on this. Also check http://users.forthnet.gr/ath/axatis/FAQs/CDR/Basics/packet.htm for more about unreliability of packet writing. Packet writing seems to work for some, but it doesn't work for many more. You may like to go to http://www.surpluscomputers.com/store/main.aspx and other sites to get Nero 6 for around $5, and then download latest updates from Nero. Using Nero to make data CD or data DVD doesn't use packet writing, and it fixed my problems by avoiding that lousy packet writing IMO at least..

  8. honestly, that surpluscomputers website, just taking a quick glance at it, seems a bit...shifty....anywhere that claims to be able to sell stuff like norton and nero at that dirt cheap of a price..........strikes me as a bit shady.....

Check also http://www.acortech.com/ who has Nero 6.6 OEM Suite for $5 shipping included. Notice these are OEM versions meaning software CD only and not retail box with manuals which is why they're much less costly. There are others with similar good prices that show up from time to time at http://www.bensbargains.net/ which is a great site to find bargains on all kinds of items.
