Why do I have 2 movies?

I bought a new recorder, LiteOn 1107HC1 from BB, and I have a question. I Tried my first recording; a one hour show at HQ, using a DVD+R disk. Afterwards I changed the title and finalized. I have no problems playing back the disk, but when I open the disk in dvdshrink or dvddecrypter, I see 2 titles, both the same size with each one about 4,118 MB in size.

What makes one file different than the other, and why are there 2?

That is actually a common occurance....especially in +R recorders. My old Philips does the same thing. It is not on there twice...it just looks that way.

I does play correctly on my PC, Baldrick, but thanks for the link for future problems.
It's just dvdshrink and dvddecrypter detects 2 movies, but Nero Showtime only sees the one.
Strange. I guess I should try with a DVD-R next time to see if the same thing happens.
I thought maybe it would have something to do with editing the title, and the original title still has a link.

I believe you are correct on that one to an extent. I recall reading that it does have to do with edited/non edited but I have since forgotten exactly which way the scenario plays out...

I used to see that on a Cyberhome DVD Recorder even when I didn't edit. I wasn't worried about as they played fine and I knew there wern't really two 4 gig movies ona 4.7 gig DVD.

I always ripped to the computer and re-authored anyway for better menus and better control of chapters. Especially on Music Videos I wanted a chapter for each song with artist and song info.

Are you sure ? I got a friend to record an old movie from tape to dvd for me on his Sony GX210. When I stuck through Shrink it also showed two movies. I was slightly perplexed. Did I get two movies at half the video quality, and how did that happen ? If you reauthor it shows two separate titles and dragging across each one and playing the preveiw, each one plays the movie. Huh ? Two movies or just an illusion ?

From a DVD Recorder it is definately an illusion.
