Well I have asked this already on the Pinnacle forum but am not having much luck getting an answer so I thought I would try here.

When I try to open an avi file that I have captured with my Winfast tv card in Pinnacle Studio plus 10 all I get is green windows in the preview windows of each scene.

It works fine for other file formats only avi is causing problems. I have k-lite codec pack installed, but it still doesnt work. The same file will play in windows media player no problems.

    Any ideas?

    Thanks. for the help.

If you search the forums, you will find that you won't find very many people who have anything good to say about Pinnacle. Try almost anything but pinnacle. It is a very buggy software.

Although I don't have anything good to say about Pinnacle, this is probably not a problem with Pinnacle. You should confirm the specific codec that was used to encode the file that you have. Codec pacs don't have everything in them. You are using a shotgun approach when you use a codec pac and hope that you hit it. Use Gspot to verify the specifc codec that was used to encode your file and then install that SPECIFIC codec on your system.

  4. I do not have Studio10. But I have Studio9. I believe PicVedio is
distributed with Studio9. I have successfully captured videos using
PicVideo codec. I do not know if WinfastTV. If it allows you to
select which codec will be used, give PicVideo a try. Or you might
try to see if you can use virtualdup for capture. If you use virtualdup,
I know that it allow you to select capture format and PicVideo is one
of the selections if it is installed.

Talking about Studio, if it works, it is good product for less money.
But it is obvious that it is not working for everyone. I have two machines
it works on one, but not the other. I used Studio 7/8/9 for years. So
I know it works, but not always. BTW, the machine which I have
    problem uses an AMD CPU.

Thanks for the advice people. I should go back to Studio 9 from the sounds of things or try something else.
