  1. i am trying to copy a vhs tape onto my computer for editing. i am now trying to cpature with mainconcept encoder and have followed the instructions to the letter on

    http://www.spaceplant.com/stuff/capture-dvd-cinergy/capture-dvd-cinergy.php

& i can see the video but i cannot get any sound. the audio set set to my sound card (realtek HD audio) but i hear nothing.

the encoder is only a trail version and i though that may be a reason.

    any suggestions would be helpful

    cheers

Although the guide shows setting the audio source in the encoder program , you need to set it in windows - in your control panel , open Sounds & Audio Properties , then click on the Advanced button there . A window will open , check Line-In isnt muted , then go to the Options menu in this window and select Properties , there is now a selection of two buttons Adjust Volume for either Playback or Recording - press Recording then OK . Then put the select tick under Line-In , this selects your recording source , then adjust its volume then just close the window .

  3. thanks for your help. I did everything you asked and i still couldn't get any sound.

is there any way of testing my in line to make sure it works? is there away round this sound issue like using some other capturing software for the sound then putting them together later?

    cheers

Mmmm , you should hear any input to the line-in even if youre not recording , take an output from anything , radio , vcr etc and plug it in . As long as the Line-In isn`t muted or has its sound level low (or the master volume level is low either) - (check these again) - you should hear something .

But the biggest check would be that you`re plugged into the line-in and not the mic input or the phono outputs , ahem , which Ive done in the past . Then its down to checking your leads , or that what you are taping off is putting something out through its outputs .

  5. apologies for this as i am a bit of a newbie.

my speakers are plugged into the green socket and work fine. when i move to a different socket i get the attached message.

the line in socket is blue but i have no idea what the caption wants me to plug into it (looks like a turn table).

i thought it would a simple case of listeding through my pc speakers at the sound but have you an idea what it wants me to do.....i will keep playing around with it.

    cheers[/img]
