Hi the problem I got is when I want to author DVD using TDA3.x it always report that it has more size than DVD5. However when I check the mpg file it is actually less than 4GB (which should fit the DVD+R). What gives? I tried it twice with different clips and the result is about the same!

But is the mpeg file DVD compliant ? Does it match the format you have told TDA you want ?

Well in MPEG Encoder I choose the MPEG to be DVD. I will look again into it.

I assume this is from mainconcept standalone.

What settings did you use ?

Do they match the project in TDA ?

e.g. if you encode the video to be NTSC DVD compliant, and bring this into a PAL project in TDA, TDA will re-encode, probably making the video larger than a single layer disc.

Hi, this is stand alone. I am trying at my friend to check out the NR feature and how it different with Premiere Media Encoder. I have solved it with selecting DVD instead of MPEG in the main page (I select DVD on the advance option but select MPEG in the main page).

This make the clip mark as Smart Rendering in the TDA. When I select MPEG it is mark as Full Rendering and TDA re-render it. Could you please tell me the difference between the two? I used TMPGenc Express and Adobe Media Encoder and all always mark as Smart Rendering in TDA.

    Thanks!

By selecting DVD, Mainconcept has constrained the parameters to ensure DVD compliance. While this means the file is completely compliant, it may also have reduced the flexibility you have to tailor the encoding. By choosing mpeg the first time, the responsibility for ensuring compliance was completely in your hands, and somewhere along the way you missed something that meant the file was not strictly compliant. This could have been anything from bitrate to GOP length.

OK thanks. So basically Smart rendering that TDA reported means that it can convert to VOB files without the need to change anything (re-rendering). While Full rendering means it needs re-render it to make the VOB?
