    Hi all

How do I best compare two vob files and get the data i need to find out what the below problem is?

I have a mpeg2 file that I burn to a DVD by using mplex and dvdauthor to build the DVD file structure. When i play the DVD in some commercial DVD-players the video stutters at scenechanges and when the movement on screen is massive. For example a glittering watersurface stutters something awful the first 2 seconds of a total of 5 seconds video of that particular scene.
This stuttereffect is most prominent on Panasonic players. My test player is a DVD-S29SG and brand new so it is not a generation problem. I also have a couple of Philips, Pioneer and Sony's of recent purchase but the movie plays perfect on these players.

If I take the exact same mpeg2 file and use MyDVD to burn a video-DVD then the movie plays without the stutter on all players.

So I have two vob-files with the same movie, one produced with mplex and dvdauthor and one produced with MyDVD. One stutters and one plays smooth as smooth can be. I need to find out exactly what differs between the two vobs or what is wrong with the stuttering one.

Any ideas on tools or such that can help me solve this.

The mpeg2 file is a 4,6Mbit video/320kbit audio digitized with a Adaptec AVC-2010 PCI card.

Following commands was used on the video and audio streams from the demuxed (simply ripped out e0 and c0 to seperate files) mpeg2 file:

    mplex.exe -f 8 -o Test8.vob temp.mp2 temp.m2v
    dvdauthor.exe -o C:\temp\dvd -x dvd.xml

dvd.xml only has the info to point at Test8.vob and nothing else.

In MyDVD I only clicked to make a new DVD, drag and drop the mpeg and let MyDVD demux, mux and build the DVD.

As a added note, if a take a mpeg2 file that is the endproduct from recording digital-TV with a DVB-card and burn a video-DVD using mplex and dvdauthor in the same way as above that DVD will always play smooth.
So there is something with the mpeg2 file from the Adaptec card that mplex and dvdauthor dont like and that MyDVD can handle. I need to find out what so I can fix this but I need some way to compare the two vobs.

I have already tested bbinfo but nothing came out of that other than that the SCR and PTS/DTS is not the same between the vobs wich is understandable since those are calculated by mplex and MyDVD.

  2. Just as a try:
Use imago to multiplex and then dvdauthor
And/or: Use muxman to multiplex, join the vob files and use the final result with dvdauthor
