Call your Dentist/Surgeon and get more drugs. It took over a week after mine were removed before the pain went away.

I just had mine pulled 2 weeks ago and I only just stopped having pain maybe 2 days ago...but I had a total of 5 teeth pulled and there were some complications...

Anyway 2 days after mine the drugs pretty effectively killed off all the pain. If it is hurting that bad it could be dry socket (that's when the blood clot comes loose right?) and my doc said it was an easy and painless fix. Just go make an appointment. The cost of the procedure covers everything so it doesn't hurt to at least get it looked at.

I had all my wisdom teeth out + 1 other last year, and I was OK until the latter stages of day 2 out of hospital. That's when the happy gas wore off and the next 5 or so days were extremely painful. I was taking Nurofen + (Panadeine Forte doesn't do much for me) but I was still in a lot of pain. The way I got through it was to be icing with a bag of frozen vegetables for at least 20 minutes every waking hour, and eating a lot of chilled kid's yoghurts (that's about all I could eat anyway). My secret was to keep my jaw as cold as possible and that was quite soothing.
    If in doubt, Google it.

If your "jaw" is killing you it is most likely facial muscle pain....or it is a combination of muscle pain and the pain from the actual pulled teeth.

  6. 2 days is not enough time to really tell as you would expect to be in a considerable amount of pain still. The pain does get worse before it gets better in many cases. I'd reassess the situation after a week.

Jimmalenko's suggestion is your best bet for making the pain more bearable. A visit to the frozen peas section of your local store is in order. If you can see the jaw bone or whitish-grey/red bone matter in the socket, you can get a D.S. Strip or Syringe kit over the counter at many chemists, to redress it. The treated cotton gauze strips work well. If the pain is worse and extends along the jaw after a week, you might need some antibiotics, which you can pick-up from your regular dr.

    Good luck!

That's precisely what I was going to say. It is based on the drug "codeine" (methylmorphine):

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Codeine

It is metabolised directly to morphine in your body, and is exceptionally good at numbing tooth pain. I used to use it often.

I notice you are in the USA - not sure if you can just buy it over the counter without a prescription (we can in the UK) but ask your doctor/dentist for some. It's excellent.

If you still have pain (and confirm this with a doctor first, don't assume I am correct because I might not be) you can combine it with ibuprofen, paracetamol or both.

The only problem with Co-codamol is that the amount of codeine you take is limited by the paracetamol (acetamenophen) it's combined with: 8mg codeine + 500mg paracetamol per tablet, maximum 8 a day.

Thus the maximum dose of codeine you get from co-codamol is 64mg - the maximal daily dose of codeing is 240mg....... about 4x what you should have for severe pain.

Ask your dentist for codein tablets instead and buy some paracetamol to take with it. Throw in some ibuprofen too for added effect.
