I have a Sony Handycam TRV480 and would like the scene I see in the eyepiece/LCD placed onto a VCR's VHS tape.

I set up with camcorder to camera/tape, and I can see in the LCD the scene I want to capture. The A/V connecting cable is plugged into the A/V plug on the camera, and the three RCA jacks are plugged into the front of the VCR. I have the VCR set to Line2. I've set the TV to Video 3 and I see nothing on the TV screen. Likewise if I set it to Video 2. Video 1 is Component. Nothing on the TV screen. There is no tape in the camcorder. I've done this before and have gotten it to work. What am I missing?

Plug the "RCA" cable into a TV video input to verify if video and audio are being output from the camcorder. It should be.

If the signal is there the problem is with your VCR settings.

Interestingly, I got it to work by turning on the VCR by simply pressing the VCR remote on/off button to on rather than turning the VCR on without the remote control. However, the TV let out a quite audible feedback sound.

Yes, when I plug the RCA jacks into the front of the TV, then the camera image appears on the TV.
