  1. Hello everyone, I have a slight problem when joining 2 or more MPEG 2 files with the TMPGenc 2.5 Merge tool. Whenever I evaluate the merged MPEG 2, I notice as the end of the video approaches, about 3-5 sec of the audio is cut.
This is not an encoding issue because almost every MPEG 2 file I try to merge has this problem.

I edited (color correction/de-interlace etc.) with TMPGEnc 2.5 which I saved as a .tpr. I then created dummy avi files via the VFAPIConVEn tools . I encoded the videos at a CBR of 2600 kbits with TMPGEnc Xpress 3.0.

Please Advise me how to fix this

    Thanks

Haven't heard of this prob with TMPGEnc -- only with V/Dub when the audio track(s) were shorter then the vid. Could demux & check lengths, repairing/padding with Delaycut as nec. (if ac3, also possible length is being mis-reported).

If audio lengths are good, might do video & audio separately then mux if nec. depending on what you want to do with the files (DVD authoring apps often want separate tracks anyway).

Might also see if you can use Avisynth instead of VFAPI (which is 24-bit RGB), but that's OT.

I would check each of those mpeg's audio out and see if they are the correct length .

If not , and everything seem's fine in playback , ie , character's speaking , then I would simply use audiocity to add a sample on to the end of the audio file to bring it to the same length , and save this .

The other method is to encode each on it's own , then join them via using the tool's provided in TMPGEnc .

    As to

"I edited (color correction/de-interlace etc.) with TMPGEnc 2.5 which I saved as a .tpr. I then created dummy avi files via the VFAPIConVEn tools . I encoded the videos at a CBR of 2600 kbits with TMPGEnc Xpress 3.0."

Seem's to be a slow and long approach in the first place .

This is where one of the problem's will strike .

You also need to make sure that each mpeg you are joining has the same video bitrate and audio bitrate prior to joining , this also can have strange effect's on joined file's if not matched .

It's like joining xvid / divx , neither like the other .

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------

If both mpeg2 stream's are the same , then you can use batchdemux to strip the m2v and audio from each , re-encode the audio to ac3 .

Then use ifoedit to author a dvd from each .
After each use "get vts sector's" ... do next dvd .

Rename first dvd vob to vts_01_001
    Rename second to vts_01_002

Place both in same folder .

    Open first with vobedit .
Go to "edit" , select join vob cell's
Choose new folder , and go .

You can now if you want , use vobedit to demux this into video stream and audio stream .

Bring these into TMPGEnc , and do what you want with them ... pretty sure you have to encode that ac3 into a wav for that version of TMPGEnc
