  1. I encoded an avi to a DVD mpeg2 but the audio was too low (ac3 problem)
I've read i can increase it with goldwave.
So can i demux mpeg2 increase volume on audio then mux the new audio with video?
or is there a better way?

Demux the AC3 track, convert it to mono wav files, adjust the volume in each, then re-encode and remux.

Or turn up the volume on your TV.

reencode the audio only, not the video. then mux the new audio with the oooold video.

  6. neither goldwave, WMP or womble would open the mpeg2
but i had previously authored it and burned it and it worked (only with low volume)
    decided to start again.
i encoded the avi with goldwave and turned up the volume.
i demuxed avi video with virtualdub but when i went to encode with mainconcept it gave me an error (sorry can't remember what it was but it kept encoding) but i stopped it after i saw error.
so i just used the avi for video source and the wav created with goldwave.(no errors when encoding)
the dvd mpeg 2 works with VLC but not WMP.
    it authors with tmpgenc author.
is it ok to use an avi that hasn't been demuxed for video source and a wav for audio source?
i think i may have a codec problem but i have recently formated HDD and the only codecs i've installed are koepis xvid , divx codec and ac3 filter.
is there anyother software that demuxes avi?
so it's working but i'm not sure if i'm doing it correctly.
    couple of questions in there.
thanks for taking time to read

Yes. The encoder will simply ignore the audio from the avi and use the wav.

It sounds like (finally) you are doing correctly. I only use Virtualdubmod to extract audio, and edit with Sound Forge. Goldwave willdo what you need to do.

If you ever hit an avi you can't play, use the latest G-spot to determine what codec is required, and install just that codec. Don't start installing other codec 'just in case' - that way lies madness.
