Not sure everything you asked makes sense, but I'll answer what does

    1. Use AVIMuxGUI to extract AC3 from avi files. Virtualdubmod can do it, but you then have to run the file through AC3fix to ensure it's integrity. AVIMuxGUI seems to do a better job.

    2. I don't understand what you mean by DVD Format. AC3 is DVD Format. Perhaps you can explain it better.

    3. Demux your mp3 using Virtualdubmod (Streams -> Stream List, Save Wav), then convert with Aften and EncWav2AC3. Use AVIMuxGUI to put it back into the avi.

The big button across the centre that reads Add Video Source would be a good start, and have a look at this guide as well : https://forum.videohelp.com/topic266194.html

Instead of Aften, try ffmpeggui. It is basically a case of open file, select where to save to, set a bitrate (192 - 224 for stereo is good) and start encoding. Very simple.

Will ffmpeggui convert from mp3 to ac3?

Sorry, but I don't understand your question.

You haven't said how you converted your avi to a DVD compliant format.

If you start at the beginning with exactly what you are trying to do you might find there are easier ways. There are now several easy to use conversion tools for avi to DVD that remove the need for a lot of mucking around.

Ok sorry. I am using TMPGEnc plus as as an encorder for conversion. I been told in order to load a ac3 audio TMPGEnc i would have to buy a plugin so the mod here told me i would need to demux the ac3 out and after encoding mux it back in. He also told me most movies from the net is mp3 will not play on a standalone DVD player so if i get a mp3 audio i would need to convert it to ac3 audio.

What are you authoring with ? It is in the authoring stage that you would bring the converted video from tmpgenc and the AC3 audio from ffmpeggui back together to create a DVD file structure.

What would be the best way to do this? I already demuxed the ac3. I am encoding now and will be authoring with TMPGEnc author

In Tmpgenc DVD Author you load you video stream that tmpgenc plus creates for you, add to this the AC3 from ffmpeggui, create a menu, add some chapters, and compile a DVD.

I have no clue. add what from ffmpeggui? How do i mux my ac3 back in after encoding? When demux it out, I dragged and dropped into the AVIMux. What movie file do i drag and drop to mux it back? What should i do with the saved mux file? It's called demux.avi

Lets take it very simply from the very beginning.

You have an avi file. It has a video stream and an audio stream.

    So far, so good.

You use AVIMuxGUI to demux the audio from the avi file.

If the audio is already AC3, out it to one side.

If the audio is not AC3 (eg. MP3) then load it into ffmpeggui and create an AC3 file. Remember where it is.

    With me so far ?

Load the avi into tmpgenc and encode just the video to create an mpeg stream.

    Done ? Good.

You know have a video stream encoded with mpeg-2 compression from tmpgenc, and an AC3 audio file.

If you don't have both of these, go back to the beginning of the process and start again. If you do have both of these then you no longer need the avi file - don't delete until you have your DVD finished though.

    Open Tmpgenc DVD Author

Add your video stream from tmpgenc plus into a track.

Add the AC3 file into the same track.

    Create a menu

Compile the DVD to your HDD.

Test it. Make sure the menu works, the audio is in sync etc. Use Media Player Classic if you don't know what to use.

If it all works correctly, burn it to a disc with Imgburn.

I don't believe I can put it more simply than that. If you need more detail on the programs, do some research. Go to the program's page in the Tools section and read some of the guides listed there. Search the User Guides forum.
