Try dropping the file into a program like VirtualDub Mod and see if you can extract the audio as a WAV, then convert it to a more usable format.

VLC isn't telling you much. It looks like MPEG-1 Layer2 audio. But then you would have no problem playing it.

VLC smetimes has trouble with MPEG1L2 audio. I can confirm that. It gives me about half second sound every once in a while.

On the other hand, my other players such as BSPlayer handles the file just fine. Weird, heh?

ive tried virtual dub and a few other progrmas cause i want to make it into a dvd. None of these progrmas will open it. VB, TMPenc, Mainconecpt MPEG encoder, and WinAVIVideoConverter. WMP says it needs a 736D codec. Which is unavilble, Threw much looking I found an article that says, K-Lite codec pack has this in it. But I installed the Full one and still in the same situation.

  5. mpeg1 layer 2 with 1411 kbps - well, looks like uncompresed audio for me.
Load the file in GSpot (2.52) to see what is the audio.

I would first uninstall the K-lite codec pack and hope it hasn't done any major damage to your other codecs. Codec packs are a very bad idea.

Did you use the latest version of Gspot, 2.52?

The audio file may be corrupted, that may explain why the problems. VLC can play corrupted files.

If not, maybe someone here has a better idea about the 736D codec, if WMP is reading that right, which would be surprising. If that is correct, it may be some obscure Microsoft codec.

Okay, digging through Google shows that 736D is a Mac-Only audio codec by QDesign.

    Supposedly FFEShow can do (QDM?)
