OK, first, I'm a noob when it comes to DV.
I've just transferred by fist film from my DV camcorder to my computer, and I seem to be missing the audio! I have transferred from my DV cam to the computer with WinDV. (it transfers successfully but the 'preview' window freezes after a while...?)
I loaded the file in VirtualDub and 'saved WAV', and resulted with a 55kb empty file.
TMPGEnc recognizes the audio when I drop in the .avi. However the authored .wav is full length, but empty.
In gspot 2.5, I'm seeing that there's audio present.
I installed the Panasonic DV codec. Is the more setup required to read the audio in the DV? On my camcorder I have selected 16bit audio (from the default of 12bit).
I'm at work, so let me know if you need any model numbers, etc..
THANKS!!!

The latest version of VirtualDub can read Type1 as well as Type2. Make sure you're using 1.6+ if using Type1.

Try type 1. You can always convert it to type 2 with https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=DV_Type_1_to_DV_Type_2_Converter. If no sucess with type 1, you may have a problem with your cabling, your FW sockets or your FW card or the camera.
