Does anyone else use these inserts? I've been using them for about a year and have ordered several packages but got some at Xmas and they're now completely different and I don't like them, they seem to be a cross between their old Glossy and their Matte. You can tell the paper is alot different (seems cheaper) and it has photo paper on the back while the old labels had nothing. Of course they won't answer their phone and I'm not sure if they would do anything anyway.
Has anyone else gotten this and found a way to make it work? It has a much duller shine and the blacks are more grey than black, the old paper was so nice looking with a real glossy finish and deep blacks. I've always liked a glossy finish when using labels and Meritline used to be the only one who carried this. Any ideas pertaining to another printer setting?

Hmmm, I haven't bought any in a while
( about six months or so).
I ususally buy in bulk, so as not to run out.
Perhaps returning them would help?
That sucks as like you said, this paper printed
very nice blacks through my Canon i560.
An alternative paper I have used that i like is
the Epson Photo Paper Glossy Pro, sold at CompUsa.
Stay away from Kodak Papers, they are gummy when
printed, and the blacks will run..."Everyone has to learn, so that they can one day teach."

When I'm not here, Where can I be found?

I haven't bought any in a while - perhaps 6 months. I have been using these for a year with my Canon Pixma 5000 printer, and they look great.
Before that though, almost 2 years ago, I had tried these and had major problems with them. They looked great, but the ink just wouldn't dry on them. Even after being left out for a week or more in the Arizona sun, they were still tacky and would stick to the clear plastic sleve on a DVD case. Everything else I printed, even glossy labels and photo paper, was dry right out of the printer. I gave up and switched to the Meritline matte inserts, which looked nice but not as nice as the glossy ones.
That was with a very old Epson Stylus Photo 700 printer. That particular ink was just not compatible with this particular "paper". I posted about my troubles at the time, here and elsewhere (including a review I wrote for the Meritline site but they never posted). Maybe they changed the formula just for me? I hope not. I don't have the problem any more.
I was very happy when I bought my Canon printer a year ago and found out the ink was compatible with these glossy inserts. I've been using them ever since. I'm disappointed to hear they've changed. I don't know when I'll try the new ones. I really stocked up last time and still have lots of the old ones left. -
I had tried these a LONG time ago and with my Epson 740 printer I had the same problem ... the ink would not dry.
Boy they looked nice that is for sure but not when they would stick to the sleeve of the DVD case once inserted.
After trying to print a few I tossed the rest. I also noticed that a lot in my package were "cut wrong" making them useless.
With a Lexmark I had for a while (since dead) and now with my new Epson (3810 Scanner/Printer combo) I just use the Epson "Glossy Photo Paper" which is only regular 8 1/2 x 11 paper but if your printer supports (as my Lexmark and new Epson does) borderless printing then you can print a DVD cover onto 8 1/2 x 11 paper.

P.S.
If you have a cover that will not fit on 8 1/2 x 11 paper ... such as one with an extra wide spine ... you can always save a TIFF of it to a CD-RW and take it to a copy place like KINKO'S and print it out on their color printer on 8 1/2 x 14 paper. I did this for a while (when I was in between printers) and it worked well for me. It was just regular paper (nothing special) but the KINKO'S color printer looks wonderfull (when they work that is since often they do have "trouble" with them)."The eyes are the first thing that you have to destroy ... because they have seen too many bad things" - Lucio Fulci

Yes I also have a ip5000 along with a HP printer but mainly use the former for dvd printing and the latter to print on the Meritline labels. The problem with the new Meritline labels is that the small print on the labels is no longer readable (it's blurred) at least with my HP. I think it maybe a little better with my Canon but not much. I've tried calling Meritline but I haven't got them to answer their phone and I've heard they won't answer emails either. I guess I just stuck with these crappy labels. I could probably live with the less glossier look but it's hard to overlook the blurry printing.
