Here's my question; using an epson r200, and assuming I buy genuine epson cartridges for the average price at leading retailers, what is the average cost (in $USD) to print a full, colour label on a CD? I'm looking for a rough estimate, please.

  2. Obviously, how much you get from a set of cartridges will vary greatly depending on what you're printing. You can reasonably expect to get about 200 discs out of a set of cartridges as long as you're not losing too much ink to the printer's priming/cleaning cycles. If you're planning on printing a lot of one-off discs then you won't get anywhere near 200 -- maybe closer to 150 but that's a guess.

I am using Ink Republic CIS for R800, maybe you can try their R200 too.

  4. I printed approx 110 dvd/cd's with one set of cartridges. These were all full colour. Only printed about 2-3 per week, not the most economical way because of the priming/cleaning cycle. I paid $85 Cdn for a full set so that works out to about .78c each.

A better idea is to get the ink feeding system - a set of carts with tubes attached at the top that run to ink containers that constantly feed it. The price for one of those is about $100 give or take, but the savings is great.

Do the CIS systems work OK if the printer is only used occasionally? Or will sitting allow them to collect dried ink and require maintenance?

    Thanks!
