i am very new with all this but i have had problems with my dvd's i have been burnning. i first used a combo of anydvd and clonedvd and it worked fine for the first few backup dvds but then it would start burning half the movie. it would be fine for the first 30 min or so then it would bring up an error that it could not read the disk from my dvd player. i then tryed dvdshrink and nero to see if it was the programs i was using, but it still doesnt work. it goes to the 5th or 6th chapter then the error reading disk pops back up again. Does anyone know something i can do or that i might be doing wrong? Thanks

Are you copying "on the fly"? If so, that hardly ever works - rip to HDD (preferably to ISO), then burn.

The disks that i use are DVD-R and DVD+R maker MAXELL.

mats.hogberg when rip it to HDD and burn it what do you mean i rip it to a file then drag the file over in dvdshrink and press backup. then i use the file that i riped to the folder. If you have a moment could you go into detail about what you mean and what i can do please?

    Thanks...

made me believe you read and burn simultaneously, doing a disc to disc backup. Obviously not, from your latter post.
Where does things go wrong? When you rip or when you shrink or when you burn?

That's what I don't get, and what confused me to start with - why should it say "unable to read disc" when it's writing? Could your HDD be bad somehow? Tried defragging? Run scandisk?

it happens in both my pc and my dvd player. how do you backup your dvds? what program do you use? is this right? i start up dvd shrink then click and drag it to the box on the left and press backup. ONce that comes up i use nero to burn my movie. it goes through an encoding phase then burns it. i have tryed to burn the movie from both my dvd and the ripped file of the movie.

im so lost with this stuff......

Uh Oh! Nero shouldn't do any more encoding.
Just set Shrink to output an ISO image. Then burn this image with DVDDecrypter (R.I.P.) or its decendant ImgBurn. If at all possible, don't ever involve Nero in anything. At least to me, it's been more of a problem than a help.
