    Hello-
I have been converting avi files to mpeg to create standalone DVD's for sometime, using the tools and HowTo's found here as a guide. However, I have run into a problem that has me stumped.

I am converting several 40+ minute avi files of a TV show. In the past, I found that trying to go right from avi to mpeg resulted in a/v sync problems. So I started extracting the audio seperately into wav files using VirtualDubMod 1.5.10.1 and the instructions found in this thread.

(FYI-My process is as follows - Prior to extracting I scan the avi in several spots along the timeline, then extract, then check the wav file in several spots along the timeline, then encode the file, then check the mpeg in several spots along the timeline, then create the dvd, then pop it into my standalone dvd player and check it in several spots along the timeline.)

Last week I successfully extracted audio from 2 episodes (resulting in each wav file being over 450mb), encoded, etc. When I tried it with the next episodes (I set up an audio extract batch job overnight and then a video encode batch job over a week I was away), I discovered that the wav file was truncated (files were roughly 120mb in size, or about 10 minutes of a 40 minute program.). Thinking I must have done something wrong in the extract process, I tried again, with the same truncated results. I double checked the How To guide, following the instructions to the letter and I still eneded up with a truncated wavs. So I tried not enabling full processing mode and while I was able to get the entire audio file (all 40 inutes), when I encoded it was way out of sync.

Thinking that it may be this specific episode (actually episodes, since the remaining 9 all had this problem), I went back to try the instructions again on the previous avi that I had success with last week (I had kept copies of all my avis, wavs, & mpegs so far) to compare. Sure enough, VDM truncated that wav file as well when previously it did not. What is going on?? Up until recently, this process worked fine, now suddenly it is not?? I didn't make any codec or other software changes between the success with one episode and the failure of the next.

Dunno why, but sometimes virtualdubmod has hissyfits extracting to WAV. When this happens I follow http://members.dodo.net.au/~jimmalenko/ExtractAudio.htm using regular virtualdub or virtualdub-MPEG2 and it works fine
    If in doubt, Google it.
