  1. Hi total noob here, was wondering if someone can give me a list of programs I need to start converting Avis to DvDs and if they aren't avis how would I go about converting .ogg/.ogm to avis and into DvDs so it would work on stand alone players.

List of basic instructions would be greatly appreciated too.

Too much to list. For the average Xvid, you might try DivxToDVD. There is still a freeware version available. There are better ways, more complex that have a sharper learning curve. Do some reading.

For OGM, I would suggest a forum search for Ogg or OGM. There are different types out there that require different methods.

Commonly, I try to open them in VirtualDub Mod. If you can open them, you can usually convert them.

An invaluable tool for odd formats is a program like Gspot. It will give you a lot of info about a video file and usually tells you the codec needed to view it.

And you can look to the left for 'Convert' <<< and find guides for most format conversions.
