There is a strange issue that I am experiencing with some xvid and divx encoded files that were captured at PAL resolution at 25fps progressive.

Using various media players like MPC or DivX Player show that the file is indeed encoded at 25fps progressive. When the file is loading in TMPGEnc 2.x or 3.x, it shows up as 30fps progressive.

Does anyone know why this happens? It does not happen with all 25fps files, just some. My goal is to encode at NTSC resolution at 25fps and then use DGPulldown to get from 25fps to 29.97fps. I've done this with lots of files and it works superbly. However, with some files, the ones that show up as 30fps, the result is extremely jittery video, even though the sound remains in perfect sync.

I've used GSpot to look at the headers of the files, and the ones that work look the same as the ones that don't. Any ideas, recommendations, etc?

    Thanks a lot!

Additional data points, I've completely re-built a system from scratch, and the new fresh install of XP Pro with Xvid 1.1 and DivX 6 still exhibits this issue.

    Any theories at all, anyone?

    Thanks.
