  1. I recently burnt my first DVD-R (previously created VCDs and SVCDs) using Memorex DVD-R 16x disc on an NEC 5350A burner authored by DVDLab-Pro and CopytoDVD.

The DVD plays fine on my PC, and a Panasonic F85 table-top play, but it is "buggy" on my Sony DVP-NS500V--It won't access one of the titles from the main menu, but plays the others (about 2.5 GB on the DVD), and just reads "EMG Stop".

This disc is not specifically identified with this player on this site, but it appears from searching the forum that Sony has problems with non-Sony media. Is this likely a player/media compatibility issue? If so, what brand of DVD-Rs does everyone recommend that has the most compatability in all players (I intended on creating home dvds to give to family members with various players).

    Thanks.

You are most likely correct about it being a media issue.

For media, I would recommend TY. But, there is not any given media that always works in all players.
