Hi everyone:![]()
I notice that there are many RW-DVDs that are not re-writeable. Sony, Maxell, Fuji, you name it.
I wonder why the companies are allowed to use such confusing and misleading label.
For CD, the RW logo means re-writeable, period! No "buts', "ifs", "becauses", blah blah blah mumboes-jumboes from the manufacturers.
For DVD, the RW logo means nothing without the word "re-writeable" spelled out completely.
Has any consumer advocate group filed a complaint about this blatant misleading label?

If it says DVD-RW then it is rewritable.
Is this what you are talking about?
DVD+R discs may contain the +RW alliance logo, but they don't state that they are DVD+RW discs. This plan is so bad, it must be one of ours. -
That's exactly what I complained about.
I am not the only one who was confused. Many friends of mine bought those DVD with the "RW alliance logo" thinking that RW denoted re-writeable!
What's is that "RW alliance logo"? "Ripping-off Worldwide" alliance? -
The RW alliance is a group of companies that promote the +R, +RW, and +RDL DVD formats as opposed to -R and -RW.
