Hello, I have a problem on audio when I am converting dvd to vcd. I have read afterdawn's guide on dvd to vcd conversion. I followed all the instructions starting from smart ripper, dvd2avi and then tmpgenc. I used Nero to burn and I created a VCD. When I played the VCD on the computer it works fine and has sound and it is indeed nice to watch. My problem is this when I am using the VCD to a vcd player(not the cd player attached to the computer but a regular vcd player with television) the video works fine but there is no sound.

My question is how can i put sound to my newly created VCD in order for me to watch it in a regular vcd player? Thank you very much!

Verify your audio meets the VCD spec.

Hello, Mr. Krispy Kripper. Thanks for your advice. I don't know how to check if my audio meets my vcd player standard. But one thing I did is I played my vcd to different vcd players of my neighbors. My vcd works out succesfully on their players! Is this method enough in checking the compatibility of my vcd audio to my vcd player? Thank you!

VCD is a very tightly specified standard (See "What is" top left) so if you do have a VCD player and a VCD, it should play. If not, something's wrong, either with your player or your VCD.
I recommend Sefys guides, this or this.

If the disc is working on your pc and your neighbors standalone players, then I would say your player is either broken or doesn't support VCD.

Probably, but not necessarily. The PC for sure is, and the neighbors might be, more tolerant, and accept a somehow off specs VCD.

The audio is OK if you used a vcd template when encoding the mpeg with tmpgenc.

If your player is not broken and it supports playing vcd's then the problem is most likley that your player is very picky about the vcd compliance.

The best way to determine if the problem is caused by your player beeing very picky about the vcd compliance is to try a vcd that has been authored with philips videocd toolkit.

Hello guys, thank you for all your replies. My vcd is alright. It's functioning well with other cd's. Upon your suggestions there is an improvement. There is already sound but only you have to literally put your ears on the speakers to be able to hear. Any suggestions on how can i make the sound of my vcd more louder. Thanks.
