I'm trying to alter some AVI files to work on my divx/xvid standalone DVD player. They were unfortunately encoded w/WMV9 video. The audio is fortunately Lame MP3.
Is there any way on earth to do this quickly? Efficiently? I have VirtualDubMod and so forth and the files always load saying their are messed up VBR headers with a 5-digit ms skew.
I'm trying to get around the inevitable 1hr re-encoding time but will deal with it if that is the only method available.
I'm open to tricks? tips? tutorials? I haven't been able to find much information on this. Thanks.

you must reencode.
if you have problems importing video in virtualdub,virtualdubmod,virtualdubmpeg2 use avisynth, read https://forum.videohelp.com/viewtopic.php?t=284288
and this is not dvd to avi, moving you. -
Oops, sorry. I wondered if I was just asking a really dumbass question or something to be shot over to the newbie room. lol

You may be able to do the same job, but MUCH faster, if you use STOIK Video Converter and transcode to one of Microsoft's MPEG4 Codecs.
