  1. I have captured a tape from my camera to the computer and I ended up with 17GB for one tape. Now I want to transform this 17GB into 4.7,the capacity of a DVD. How can I do that? What software should I use.
    Thank you in advance

I use TMPGnc, there are others. Have a look in "tools' on the left side of the page.

    Hi alintatoc,

I, too, use TMPGEnc Plus. Other encoders to MPG2 (that's the file format you need to end up with) that are highly regarded are (in no particular order):

    MainConcept MPEG Encoder
    Cinemacraft Encoder
    Canopus Procoder

People tend to go for TMPGEnc because it's cheaper and produces excellent results. The downside is that it's slower than the others. I leave mine running overnight.

    Good luck.

Just to make one thing clear, the capacity of a DVD is 4.37 GB.

  6. I've tried to convert the 17GB movie with DIVXtoDVD and it converted only a part of the movie, not the whole movie.
    Does anybody know why?

  7. Probably because DivxToDVD is not designed to handle DV files (as its name say)

I have captured the movie from my camcorder and I has 17Gb and I want to make it smaller, the size of a DVD. Which software can do that.
The movie is DV and I want to make it smaller.
