i saw a lot of people on another forum having problems with stealth. there is a guide up on how to burn arccos protected discs but that is not how i did it. that method was written by someone that knows a lot more than i do so i am not saying this way is better but it did work cause i just did it.
i ripped stealth with dvd decrypter 3.5.4.0. right away i got an error. i ignored it or aborted it i forget what it said but it finished ripping but it skipped 1 file. when it was done i opened dvd shrink and it wouldn't recognize the files i ripped. i got another error.
i put stealth back in and opened dvd fab decrypter and ripped the entire disc no problem. when it was done i opened dvd shrink, hit open files-browsed to my folder and it scanned. it picked it up just fine. when it was done i unchecked all the audio tracks except for english and unchecked all the subtitles xcept for english. i hit backup-burn with dvd decrypter. it encoded and burned just fine.
like i said, it may not be the optimum way but it worked. i am using the newest versions of all the software and decrypter did not work but fab did. this is the 2nd title that decrypter wouldn't wotk on, layer cake being the other one. fab took care of that one too with no problem.
hopefully this way will work for you all too.

you could have just used dvdfab first,a newer more updated ripper than the year old dvddecrypter.
    or
you could have used dvddecrypter and made a .psl file for it,and reripped it,and there wouldnt be any need for any more steps.
    or
you could just run anydvd in the background, and ripped with dvddecrypter, and no need for any more steps.
    or
you could have ripped movie only, and remove the strange sized cells with shrink/dvd2one,and it would have worked.
the problems people have with some movies is that they either have older versions of programmes,or just dont try before searching or asking.

Boondock, thanks for the input. The method that works for you is what's important.

I usually start with Shrink, then default to Decrypter, then Fab. It's too bad Shrink ceased development or it would be a lot easier.

that is what is important but i like to try to help people. i have been reading on a few forums that people have been having trouble with the arccos protection. i read a guide to burning arccos protected discs on another forum but it sounded really complicated. had to use a few extra programs, make plc files or something like that.
i figured i'd post what worked for me since it was easy. someone else asked when fab would be updated to handle stealth and that he burned it but it skips chapters or something. i don't know about that cause i burned stealth earlier and we are watching it now and it has to be close to the end and there has not been one problem.

seems you have your system that you always use. i do to. i always start with decrypter, then shrink, then burn with decrypter. ywice now i have had to dig deep and start with fab.

  6. I managed to backup my copy using DVDFab Decrypter and then DVDFab Gold, but when I tried it out there was about 2 minutes of black screen before the movie starts. I had the same problem with the Forgotten a while back.

Does anyone have a solution for this? Thanks for any info

  8. Boondock,i wasnt having a go,just saying that with the users trial and error, theres lots of different ways to do it.
just like you did,add that to the ways i mention, and im sure that theres a ton more ways as well, some more in depth, some not so.
whatever floats yer boat,so to speak.

no big deal as all suggestions are welcomed no matter whether people will use them or not 8). Some may take parts of a suggestion and customize it for themselves or the original poster may use alternatives to their method after getting replies

nothing wrong with sharing methods 8)

that's how I learnt quite a lot of what I know by taking parts of methods and filling in gaps to come up with my 'best' method for me. I then wrote a few guides and posted quite a few times about it hoping that others find it useful and they did. Many times I was given suggestion as what to do and that only helped improve the method

Simply using the very latest ANYDVD + DVDshrink = perfect error free backup just five minutes ago. I simply don't understand what's with all the problams people are reporting. Just use AnyDVD 5.6.3.1 + you favorite ripper and that's it.
No DVD can withstand the power of DVDShrink along with AnyDVD!

  11. How is that movie anyway? It flopped at the box office "what else is new" so I was just wondering if its a worth a buy or not.

That one's easy if you're reauthoring movie only. Open with DVDShrink, go to start/end frames, jump to chapter two and manually reverse to one second. For all I know, you could reverse to the first frame, dunno. You're just eliminating the unreferenced junk. That's the start point, leave end point alone. Then backup. That method worked for me on "The Forgotten". But it's common knowledge that oftentimes "washing" the decrypted files in VobBlanker fixes structural problems. Load in VobBlanker and hit "Process". That's it. Might do the job in this case, might not.

Dunno how many movies have unreferenced cells at the start of the movie, I think the more recent protections have moved beyond that, so obviously the start/end frame thing ain't gunna work on them.
    Pull! Bang! Darn!
